The surgery was successful!

Grace was able to go into her surgery early and was prepped and ready to go for 2pm. Sam and I were just going back in to sit with Grace after her intubation, but upon arriving in the Neonatal Neurocritical room we found a Pre-Op huddle underway. So we were quickly debriefed, said a quick goodbye and prayer and then walked with the transport team down to floor 2. We then watched them wheel her into the Operating Wing and headed back to the NICU, where both our parents parents were waiting and praying.

After waiting, praying, and worshiping for about an hour the surgeon came to the family room and let us know that it was successful. He said there were no major complications and that the Ommaya was placed into Grace's left ventricle. They removed 12mls of CSF in the OR room and will now remove around the same amount every day for the next few days until the fluid is significantly reduced. After that they will tap when necessary. He explained that they cannot remove it all at once and have to do it slowly in order to prevent a vacuum effect, which would cause Grace's brain to come away from the skull.

We are so thankful that the Lord continues to carry all of us through this journey and that he once again sustained Graces life through a life saving surgery.

Thank you God for the miracle of life!
