We had our meeting with the entire Sick Kids team on Wednesday concerning Grace's MRI results. This was her first time having an MRI, and so it gave a more in-depth view of the damage that has been done.
Based on the imaging Grace has a thin rim on the outer edge of her brain left that is considered healthy brain tissue, as the fluid filled ventricles have pressed against the rest of the brain tissue and damaged it. This was pretty devastating news as we knew it was bad but now have a visual for how dire the situation is. Grace will need some pretty significant brain surgery, and the doctors give a very bleak report of what her life will look like.
Thankfully we believe in the report of our God and not them, so when they asked us yet again if we wanted to end interventions we of course stated that we felt called (and wanted) to continue regardless of their prognosis of her quality of life and the risks associated with the brain surgery to remove fluid.
While none of this was news for Sam and I, the gravity and reality of Grace's brain injuries and fragility as a Micro-preemie kind of hit us today, when we were confronted by a team of 9 people who are the best in the business.

Prayers are coveted for all of us.
Specifically for Grace that she can rapidly gain weight in order to have the surgery, that her brain tissue doesn't continue to deteriorate from the pressure, and that when she has the surgery that she does not succumb to the risks they have warned us about.
For Sam and I, we ask that we can continue to find strength in the Lord and step out in faith each new day. As well as that in this lowest of lows we can hold onto hope and trust that God has good in store for us. That we can continue to believe in miracles and the promises we have been given in the Bible.
