Surgery Day!

Today's the day! The long awaited surgery day has arrived. Sam and I have been waiting in nervous/excited anticipation as we knew this day was arriving soon. There are some risks associated with an Ommaya, however, the positives far out way the negatives, and we continue to trust God with our daughters life.

A bit of information with why Grace requires this surgery is that she had a Bilateral Grade 4 bleed when she was born as well as blood clots. These clots then blocked her ventricles and prevented the natural drainage that would occur after a brain bleed. It also doesn't allow the CSF that is always being created to drain either, causing fluid to build in and around her brain, putting pressure on the brain tissue.

Offically Grace has been diagnosed with Intraventricular hemorrhage (IVH) which caused Periventricular Leukomalacia (PVL) as well as Hydrocephalus. As many of you know her prognosis is very bleak and doctors have given very little hope for her future quality of life. However, we worship the great physician and trust and hope in Him to work a miracle in Grace's life. And even if that doesn't look like what we would have imagined or hoped, we will still praise Him, because He is God, our only hope, and sovereign over all. We know Grace does not have value because of who or what she may be in the future, but because she was created by God, and her worth comes from her identity as a child of the most high! She has the Holy Spirit living in her, and is doing great things already as the daughter of the King 💕

Grace's surgery will be at 3pm today, with a lot of pre-op things happening beforehand. Before she can have surgery she will be getting re-intubated, as well as a PIV inserted. She is now NPO, which means she is no longer getting feeds, and her fluids are slowly being reduced so her body is ready for any additional fluids she may need to get during operation (blood, anesthesia, pain meds, etc).

• Please continue to pray for Grace, that the surgery is successful, and that she does well!

• For Sam and I that we continue to lean on the Lord through this journey and find strength only in Him.

• That we trust God's good and perfect plan and that His will would be our will.

• Pray that a miracle would happen in Grace, and that God would heal her brain.
